The restored HISTORIC 104 YEAR OLD MINERS COTTAGE 'RAWLE COTTAGE' ONCE THE HOME OF OUR MOST ILLUSTRIOUS WAIHI POET , WAIHI 'S 'HARRY RAWLE', BORN IN ENGLAND HARRY RAWLE AND HIS FAMILY LIVED IN THIS COTTAGE FOR OVER 30YRS, IT IS NOW MY HOME. HARRYS RAWLE'S SON , COLIN RAWLE MADE A NOSTALGIC TRIP FROM THE SOUTH ISLAND TO VISIT TO THEIR OLD FAMILY HOMESTEAD IN WAIHI GOLDMIMNG TOWNSHIP NORTH ISLAND NEW ZEALAND- COLIN WAS VERY GLAD TO SEE THE FAMILY HOMESTEAD MAINTAINED... COLIN RAWLE AS HIS LATE FATHER HARRY RAWLE, IS A COMPETENT POET . HARRY AND COLIN RAWLE'S POETRY WILL BE PROFILED ON THIS SITE.....WITH OTHER NEW ZEALAND POETS....THIS ORIGINAL MINERS COTTAGE HAS NOW BEEN SOLD ON......
LOVELY OLD HISTORIC BUILDING BEAUTIFULLY MAINTAINED IN THE OLD ORIGINAL STYLE, ONCE THE IMPOSING WAIHI COUNTY COUNCIL BUILDING AND WAIHI LIBRARY, NOW 'THE CHAMBERS' A MOST GRACIOUS VENUE FOR DINNING OUT IN STYLE IN WAIHI - 'MARTHA MINE' GOLDMINING TOWN NEW ZEALAND.
HISTORIC BUILDING, THE EX KINGS THEATRE / THE INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY BUILDING,, ON WHOSE BOARDS TROD SOME OF THE WORLD'SFAMOUS, SUCH AS DUKE ELINGTON ETC., HASZARD STREET, WAIHI GOLDMING TOWN, THIS BUILDING UNFORTUNATEY COMES INTO THE A DANGER ZONE RE WAIHI GOLDMING SUBSIDENCES
ONE WOULD HOPE THAT A BUILDING AS THIS WITH ITS UNIQUE GOLD MINING HISTORY CAN BE SALVAGED SOMEHOW FOR THE FUTURE GENERATIONS.
The beautiful PRINCESS GATE HOTEL, oh yes another one of Waihis lost history/buildings isn't it beautiful! once belonged to WAIHI, oh yes makes you think eh...this gorgeous Hotel was once part of the Waihi mining town, now in Rotorua

Shock! Horror! On a recent trip to WAIHI with the WCCC, on a stroll around town we were horrified to see yet ANOTHER HISTORIC WAIHI BUILDING DEMOLISHED!! What on earth is with the Council to let all this history be destroyed?? ..This particular building was the OLD REGENT THEATRE, very ART DECO, to the right is another building that was demolished in the same ROSEMONT Road, CLARKES this building actually had the remains of a previous houses fireplace..amazing........now it is an unexciting modern RD1......what a boring street..
this building, which I would have assumed to be historic, THE OLD PICTURE THEATRE, has GONE!!!! DEMOLISHED!!!!more of old Waihi's history just Memories & Dust, how disgusting., who ever let this happen needs a good shakeup as to what is what in Waihi History to keep for future generations !
Looking down ROSEMONT Road, what a beautiful historic street this once was....Craig taking down his sign , for the very last time, most of these lovely historical old shops in Rosemont Road are now memories and dust in the leaves of time..........demolition job at the right is this shop going going gone!!
Yeah still standing a unique miners cottage..Tauranga road WAIHI. though now up for sale on TRADEME, golly hope it doesn't get pulled down by a developer!
