OUR MOTTO: FORTES FORTUNA JUVAT:FORUNE FAVOURS THE BOLD.
OUR CREST IS A LOZENGE WITH WINGS BOTH BEING DERIVED FROM ARMS OF THE BARONY OF RYE- NORMANDY.
NAMES ORIGINATING FROM THE PARENT NAME OF BLONVILE, ARE MANY, AND VARIED, FOR WHEN BIRTH MARRIAGE AND DEATH CERTIFICATES WERE MADE, THEY WERE ONLY AS GOOD AS THE EDUCATION OF THE CLERK ISSUING THE DOCUMENTATION. THUS A MR BLOOMFIELD'S WIFE OR CHILDREN, COULD AND WERE PUT DOWN AS BLOOMFIELD/BLOMFIELD, OR SIMILIAR, ie,BLOMEFIELD, BLUMFIELD ETC., WHICH HAPPENED QUITE FREQUENTLY AS IS SHOWN IN THE BIRTH MARRIAGE AND DEATH CERTIFICATION.THIS IN TURN HAS MADE THE TASK OF GENEALOGISTS THAT MORE DIFFICULT IN TRACING THE ANCESTORS.
My father christened C.E. BLOMFIELD, is down in some documentation as Mr C.E.BLOOMFIELD.

THOMAS NEVILL BLOMFIELD MY GRANDFATHER AND HIS FAMILY ON THE P&O SHIP CHINA FROM MELBOURNE TRANSFER MAKOIA IN 1901.
The branch or rather group of families from which we are descended was the SUFFOLK GROUP, which by the seventeenth century occupied a considerable tract of country in SUFFOLK between IPSWICH, FRAMLINGHAM and MONKS ELEIGH, close to LAVENHAM with outlaying branches as far as HENHAM to the North East and AND BURY ST EDMUNDS. to the North West,STONHAM ASPALL and STONEHAM PARVA, also MICKFIELD, DEDHAM, DEBENHAM ETC.,. .
In the 15th Century the Family was known as BLOMVILE ,and that they were then settled in SUFFOLK as either descendants of BLOMVILE OF HENHAM or as an offshoot of the family of BLOMVILE OF DEPHAM and NEWTON OF FLOTHAM, from which other family offshoots settled in EAST DEREHAM and in NORWICH. BLOMFIELD, BLONVILE and BLONDEVILLE are in fact all names of the same parent family and that they were originally known as "BLONVILE" OR "de BLONVILE", from the LITTLE VILLAGE OF de BLONVILE on the Norman coast, from which they came over to ENGLAND at the end of the 11TH CENTURY or early 12TH CENTURY.
As was the case with most of the oldest EAST ANGLICAN FAMILIES, the Family is of NORMAN origin, from the data that ancestors on both sides were neighbours in SUFFOLK.. The evidence here is typical of the history of some of the oldest families in ENGLAND ,
"FAMILIES FAR OLDER THAN MANY OF THOSE NOW INCLUDED IN PEERAGE, AND THAT HELD AND LOST THEIR LAND IN DAYS BEFORE THOSE FAMILES HAD ANY EXISTENCE AT ALL"......

My line of BLOMFIELDS are in the book, BLOMFIELD- A SUFFOLK FAMLILY' by Sir Reginald Blomfield 1916. Our line comes through BLOMFIELD OF MICKFIELD, one Henry Blomfield who purchased land in Debenham called STONHAM-FIELD and built his home there. But still more good news, we can now trace our Blomfield/Bloomfield family roots way back to the Time of HENRY TUDOR, to one JOHN BLOOMFIELD OF BURY ST EDMUNDS 1487/8 and his wife Anne. Most of this data can be downloaded from the Mormon Genealogy site for free. Now further on from John Blomfield we go back to William Blomvyle 1366, it is noted here that the original spelling was BLONVILLE (NORMANY FRANCE )
